Alessio Romangoli is expected to sign a new contract at Serie A giants AC Milan but, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, a Premier League offer could still turn the head of the Tottenham Hotspur target.
Unless Tottenham can put an end to those debilitating defensive blunders, then the feeling will remain that Antonio Conte is attempting to lay the foundations for a future Premier League champion on sand.
Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez are prone to bouts of head-scratching vulnerability while Cristian Romero, the club’s £47 million summer signing, has endured a bit of a hit-and-miss start to life in North London, sent off in Conte’s first game at the helm against Vitesse Arnhem in the UEFA Conference League.
It is not certain, meanwhile, what former Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan coach Conte has planned for youngsters Joe Rodon and Japhet Tanganga.
But reports linking Spurs with a January swoop for two of Conte’s Scudetto-winning stars – Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar – suggest that the Italian is not exactly enamoured with the defensive options currently at his disposal.
Torino’s Bremer has also been mentioned as a potential target.
Will Conte finally sign Alessio Romagnoli for Tottenham?
Italy international Romagnoli, meanwhile, is available for a cut-price fee of £15 million with his contract expiring next summer.
According to Calciomercato, Tottenham are eyeing up a bargain swoop for the one-time Everton target.

As things stand, however, Romagnoli appears to be closing in on a new, long-term deal at AC Milan – one that will actually halve his wages from £100,000-a-week to around £55,000-a-week.
There’s no doubting his commitment to the Rossoneri cause, then.
The report does suggest, however, that an offer from the Premier League could change everything. The ball, then, is in Tottenham’s court – and it seems they will have to act quickly and decisively with Romagnoli’s contract talks progressing at a rate of knots.
Interestingly, Conte’s Chelsea failed with a £35 million bid for Romagnoli back in 2016, according to The Guardian.
