Brazilian giants Santos could sell wonderkid Renyer for just £1.5 million as Premier League giants Leeds United look to fight off competition from AC Milan and Benfica, as reported by SempreMilan

When it comes to producing the next generation of Brazilian talent, the Santos production line is as prolific as they come. Neymar, Rodrygo Goes and Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa are just three players who made their name in black and white.

And then there’s Kaio Jorge, now of Juventus. Kayky, meanwhile, joined Manchester City back in April 2021. And, with just over a year left on his contract, it seems only a matter of time before Renyer is taking a well-travelled path from Vila Belmiro to the other side of the Atlantic.

Leeds United in race to sign Renyer

The teenager’s agent allegedly told Portuguese publication Record back in May that Leeds United, amongst others, had expressed their interest in a forward who appears to share Neymar’s mind-bending skill and penchant for the unexpected.

“(Renyer’s agent Emerson) Zulu revealed to me that Benfica has great admiration for the player,” writes Record reporter Fabiano Abreu Agrela.

“But that Premier League clubs, such as Leeds United, have already given good references to the young Brazilian.”

Santos found themselves in a position to command colossal fees for Neymar and Rodrygo when Barcelona and Real Madrid came calling. Renyer, in contrast, could be available for as little as £1.5 million with his contract expiring in November 2023.

Leeds have already signed Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca and Rasmus Kristensen. Luis Sinisterra, Tyler Adams and Darko Gyabi arrived too. Jesse Marsch and Victor Orta still have work to do, however.

A new left-back is required following Junior Firpo’s two month injury lay-off. Ditto a new centre-forward.

It is not certain whether Renyer would be utilised as a first-team option. Or, perhaps, whether he’d have to earn his stripes under Mike Jackson at U23 level.
