John Terry would be ‘open’ to the idea of replacing Steven Gerrard at Glasgow Rangers, Sky Sports report.
John Terry to Rangers?
Gerrard only left Rangers yesterday, but the Scottish champions have wasted no time searching for his replacement.
Already a whole host of names have been linked with the Ibrox vacancy, and it seems that Terry is another potential contender.
Sky say that the 40-year-old, Premier League winning captain is very much willing to listen to opportunities as he looks to step into management.
Terry, of course, played alongside Gerrard at England level and he would be a similar type of appointment for Rangers if they did back him to take charge.
During their time playing together Gerrard always spoke very highly of Terry, suggesting he was a ‘great leader’ (Tribal Football).
The Chelsea legend has never been a manager before, much like Gerrard hadn’t before taking charge at Ibrox, but he has worked as an assistant.
During his time at Aston Villa, Terry was widely credited for the work he did on the training ground and he was very popular among the players.
A big gamble
There is no doubting that he would be a risky appointment for Rangers given their situation though.
While Terry does have a great standing in the game, he is yet to prove himself as a manager.

With Rangers needing their new boss to come in and steady the ship after Gerrard’s departure, putting a rookie boss in charge would be a gamble.
But given the success of Gerrard’s appointment, Rangers could well consider giving another inexperienced boss a chance to find his feet in management at Ibrox.
The Light Blues are currently four points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, giving whoever takes charge a good opportunity to win silverware in their first season at the club.
