Tottenham youngster Dilan Markanday is close to a permanent move to Championship side Blackburn Rovers with the winger having his medical today.
According to the Lancashire Telegraph, the 20-year-old attacker is at Blackburn today for a medical ahead of a move to Rovers. Blackburn currently sit third in the Championship table and have a real shot of returning to the Premier League for the first time since 2012.
Tony Mowbray and the club have focused their transfer strategy in recent years on signing promising British players who can develop and flourish in the second-tier, with the likes of Tyrhys Dolan, John Buckley and Ben Brereton Diaz all thriving this campaign.
And now, Markanday looks set to join this impressive list of young players. According to the Daily Mail, Fabio Paratici agreed to sell the Tottenham academy graduate for just £500,000.
Indeed, this fee could come across as a steal for Blackburn given Markanday’s form at youth level this season. The attacker has bagged an impressive 12 goals and five assists in Premier League 2, with the forward also making his senior debut for Spurs in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Whilst the Championship will be a dramatic step up for Markanday, Blackburn have proven in recent years to be an excellent club to develop and play regular first-team football.
Tottenham could regret selling Markanday to Blackburn

At 20-years-old and only just one senior appearance with the seniors, it makes sense why Tottenham have greenlighted a permanent sale for Markanday to Blackburn. However, this could be a move that the club regret in the future.
The winger has been excellent at youth level this season. And Markanday could become a star for Blackburn in the second half of the campaign if he hits the ground running with the Championship giants.
