Speculation is rife that Tottenham Hotspur are secretly plotting to hijack Gabriel Jesus from under the nose of Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners have made the Manchester City hitman their priority signing and have been trying for weeks to bring the 25-year-old to the Emirates Stadium.

It has even been reported that the player himself has asked Pep Guardiola to let him join Arsenal, amid speculation that Tottenham are also interested.

The Times reported on Friday that a £50 million deal to bring the Brazil international to the red half of the North London divide was close.

However, Spurs have other plans.

According to Di Marzio, the Lilywhites are ‘going under the radar’ to hijack Gabriel Jesus in a ploy that would infuriate the Gunners, given how much groundwork they’ve laid in trying to sign the South American attacker this summer.

The report, however, adds that the ‘deal is difficult’ for Tottenham to successfully pull off at this stage of the game.

Fortunately, the Hotspur Way outfit have someone capable of miracles in the form of Fabio Paratici and so long as the Whites are in the discussion, Arsenal need to be concerned.

Tottenham have signed three players this summer – Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma – and they’re almost certainly going to make further additions.

Problem is, they also need an additional number nine at the club and that should really worry Mikel Arteta and Edu.

Spurs have the resources, the motive and the capability to sign the Sky Blue ahead of their bitter rivals and it’ll be fascinating to see how this one develops.
