According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are now closing in on the signing of Destiny Udogie from Udinese.

The north London club have been linked with Udogie for a couple of months now, but it seems as though they’re finally set to get their man.

This would be Spurs’ seventh signing of the summer, and interestingly, it would be the third wing-back arrival in this window after Ivan Perisic and Djed Spence arrived.

At the age of just 19, Udogie is one for the future, so Perisic may not need to worry about losing his spot anytime soon, but if the Nigerian continues to improve at the rate he has been, he could soon be a star for Spurs.

Indeed, while Udogie was a relative unknown just 12 months ago, since the turn of this year he’s really kicked into another gear.

As an attacking wing-back, Udogie hit his best form after Serie A’s winter break, netting no fewer than five goals and grabbing four assists since mid-February.

In fact, Udogie’s recent record has seen him grab eight goal contributions in 14 games, and, in all honesty, that’s a ratio that most strikers would be proud of.

Indeed, Udogie’s five league goals since February is a better tally than Mo Salah has managed in that same time period for Liverpool, while it’s more league strikes than Marcus Rashford managed in the entirety of last season for Manchester United.

Udogie certainly has what it takes to be a real threat from wide areas, and there may be no better manager for him to work under than Antonio Conte right now.

This 19-year-old could be an absolute gem of a signing and if Conte sticks around at Spurs for a few more years, we could well be looking at one of the Premier League’s best in a few years’ time.
