Tottenham have reportedly decided to hand Ryan Sessegnon a new contract after an extended run in Antonio Conte’s starting XI at left-wingback.
According to the Times, Spurs are set to tie the England youth international down to a fresh deal after finding some joy playing under the Italian manager following multiple years of failing to find his feet in north London.
Sessegnon joined Tottenham in 2019 under Mauricio Pochettino for a reported £25m according to BBC Sport but has never looked settled with the Premier League side, with the winger heading out on loan to Hoffenheim last season where he again failed to set the world alight.
However, despite making just ten starts all season, Conte has been impressed by Sessegnon’s recent performances since taking the left-wingback position, with the Tottenham manager lauding the youngster as ‘fantastic’ after Spurs’ 3-2 win against Manchester City.
And now, it appears that Tottenham are ready to hand Sessegnon a new contract, with the youngster finally starting to show signs of his potential after exploding onto the scene with Fulham in the 2017/18 season.
Sessegnon made the move from fullback to attacking winger with the Cottagers, however now under Conte, the 21-year-old is starting to look like an ideal wingback for the Tottenham manager, who is eager to hand the youngster a new contract.

With Sessegnon more an attacking player than a defensive one, the youngster has much to learn as Tottenham’s left-wingback under Conte, however, with the club now moving to sign him down to a new contract, the Italian seems to have plenty of faith in the English talent.
Indeed, Sessegnon has looked lost at times for years at Tottenham and seemed to be a player who would be better off leaving the north London side, yet now with Conte at the helm, a new contract seems to be the right decision for the prospect.
