According to The Athletic, reported Leeds United target Tyler Adams has been told by RB Leipzig that he can leave the club on loan.

The American midfielder has been strongly linked to Leeds, and according to Phil Hay, there’s a ‘fair possibility’ that the USMNT international could end up playing at Elland Road next season.

Leeds are in the market for a new midfielder as Kalvin Phillips looks set to join Manchester City, and Adams ticks almost every box for the Whites.

As an American, Jesse Marsch knows Adams well. In fact, Marsch has worked with him at both RB Leipzig and New York Red Bulls.

The Red Bull link is also significant. Leeds have been doing plenty of business with that stable of clubs this summer, landing both Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen from Red Bull-affiliated clubs, and now Adams could be next.

Leipzig are willing to allow the ‘special’ midfielder to leave on loan with an option to buy, and this could actually be a great deal for Leeds.

Indeed, the Whites need to rebuild their squad after a poor 2021/22 season and a loan followed by a transfer next summer for Adams could free up more funds to be used elsewhere in this window.

Of course, Adams isn’t the only midfielder Leeds are in for, they’re also linked with Harry Winks and Mohamed Camara, but given Marsch’s links to Adams and the fact he’s available, one has to imagine that he’s a top candidate to replace Phillips in this Leeds team.
