Spain international Brais Mendez could be on his way to the Premier League with Southampton and Norwich City interested in the La Liga winger, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.
The Galician-born 24-year-old can probably consider himself a little unfortunate as he watches Euro 2020 unfold from the comfort of his own sofa.
With nine goals in La Liga, the 2020/21 campaign was officially the best of Mendez’s career.
The 6ft 2ins schemer certainly enjoyed a better season than PSG bench-warmer Pablo Sarabia, although it was the latter, rather than the former, who is filling the left-footed-right-winger role in Luis Enrique’s squad.
A potential move to England may represent something of a boost to Mendez’ international prospects, however.
Tuttomercatoweb reports that newly-promoted Norwich are battling Lyon and Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton for his signature this summer.

The report does not explain how much Celta Vigo would demand for their homegrown hero though, with three years left on his contract, it seems unlikely that Mendez will be available on the cheap.
You’d imagine that Norwich would have to part with a club-record fee for one of the most intelligent and creative wide players in Spanish football.
But if the Canaries could not afford the £12 million Celtic wanted for giant centre-back Kristoffer Ajer, what are the chances of Mendez bringing his own brand speed, skill and subtle vision to Carrow Road?
