Media Foot claim Diego Simeone has offered Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco to Ligue 1 champions PSG with a fee of £35m required to land the Belgian – amid reports Newcastle and Tottenham are keen on signing the attacker.

Carrasco, 29, remains a crucial part of Simeone’s side but it appears Atleti are preparing for a reshuffle. Joao Felix has been linked with the exit door, Matheus Cunha has gone to Wolves and Alvaro Morata could be set to leave as well.

Belgium’s World Cup winger Carrasco is the latest name to be linked with the exit door. The report claims that Atletico Madrid have offered him to PSG for a fee of £35million. Or, a loan-to-buy deal that would be worth the same figure.

That is despite Carrasco being linked with a move to the Premier League, too. Marca reported at the start of the season that Tottenham were interested in landing the ex-Monaco man. While, AS say Newcastle are keen on bringing him in.

Carrasco offered to PSG amid Newcastle and Tottenham reports

Who is more likely to get Carrasco? You would suggest a move to PSG would see Carrasco’s career go backwards. While he remains important to Atleti, starting more games than he is not – PSG would see him warm the sub bench.

Newcastle are looking to improve their side with progressive signings, important for the long-term project. Sven Botman, Alex Isak, Bruno Guimaraes being examples. Carrasco is 29 and unless a loan, a Newcastle move looks unlikely.

Tottenham meanwhile are more than willing to sign players that are a bit older. Already in their peak. Look at Clement Lenglet, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and more. They need attacking reinforcements and Carrasco would make sense.

So, Carrasco’s best move in January is to stay where he is. Continue to show Simeone he deserves to start week in, week out. Or, chance his arm at Tottenham and try to overtake the likes of Son Heung-min and Deki Kulusevski.
