Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder confirmed his side’s approach for the Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Sheffield United’s bid for Conor Coady has been rejected by Wolverhampton Wanderers, The Mirror is reporting on its transfer blog.

Reports of United’s offer surfaced on Wednesday afternoon and were later confirmed by Blades boss Chris Wilder after his side’s 3-2 win against Walsall.

“Yeah we have (made an offer for Coady),” he told BBC Radio Sheffield.

On whether or not their approach had been accepted, Wilder added: “That’ll be kept between the two clubs.

“I’m not going to talk about the player, we’ve placed a bid for the player.

“You do your research on the player and what you think his qualities are and I think we might be on the same page.

“We like to think we’re an ambitious football club.”

But Coady, who spent the 2013-14 season on loan to the Blades from Liverpool, would appear to feature prominently in the plans of new Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo – having captained the Molineux side to victory against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The 24-year-old moved to Wolves from Huddersfield Town two summers ago and has 10 months left on his deal there, although according to Transfermarkt his current employers have an additional year’s option.

According to The Sheffield Star, the Blades remain interested in signing Darragh Lenihan and Ryan Leonard of Blackburn Rovers and Southend United respectively.

And Wilder’s side could intensify their pursuit of the pair following their alleged Coady snub.
