Can Sheffield United succeed where Sheffield Wednesday are said to have failed, by signing the Middlesbrough midfielder?
The Telegraph reports that Sheffield United are rivalling their old boss Neil Warnock for Middlesbrough’s Adam Forshaw – months after the midfielder was linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday.
It is claimed that Forshaw, who was tipped for an England call up last season, is set to leave Middlesbrough this month, with United and Cardiff City – Warnock’s current club – keen to sign him on loan.
The Blades have already added two players – Lee Evans and Ryan Leonard – in Forshaw’s preferred central role since the transfer window opened, although the Liverpudlian can also play out wide.
Forshaw has also been linked with moves to Derby County and Aston Villa this month, per the Northern Echo.
According to the Mirror, Sheffield United’s rivals Sheffield Wednesday – along with Wolverhampton Wanderers – failed with multiple bids for the Middlesbrough man on the final day of the summer transfer window.
It remains to be seen whether Wednesday will renew their interest, however, having recently changed managers.
