Tottenham fans have been left debating over Cristian Stellini and Antonio Conte after a stunning run of form.

Ever since the 48-year-old stepped into the hotseat after the Italian underwent gallbladder surgery, Spurs have won three of their four Premier League games in February.

The one outing that Conte was well enough to take charge of in February saw Tottenham lose 4-1 to Leicester.

Now – thanks to the Evening Standard – it has become clear whose name would be on the prize if the Manager of the Month award ends up in N17.

What’s the story?

Well, it is said that Conte would go down as Manager of the Month for February if Spurs win the prize – not Stellini.

The Evening Standard claim that the Premier League are not planning to make any changes to the names on their shortlist as Conte was still heavily involved in the wins throughout February.

Conte is said to have remained in close contact with Stellini and the rest of the coaching staff, picking the starting XI and even making in-game decisions while recovering from his surgery.

Despite the fact Stellini will not officially be named as Manager of the Month, the Evening Standard add that Conte is likely to share the award with his No.2 if Spurs win.

Conte could lose Stellini following Tottenham success

It has been suggested that Stellini could opt to go into management on his own after succeeding in the absence of Conte.

Stan Collymore told Caught Offside that he feels the Italian could leave Tottenham after having a taste of what it feels like to be the No.1 in the dugout, tipping him for a job in the Championship.

The 52-year-old wrote: “The problem for Spurs is, when the manager’s number two gets a taste for the outright manager’s job, they often have their head turned.

“Of course, they’re going to want to experience it more because they’ve had a sample of what it feels like to be the top man – the one in charge – the man who is listened to. For Championship teams, or the equivalent throughout Europe, in my view, it’s a no-brainer for them to be looking at Stellini.”

Interestingly, Tim Sherwood has added that he feels some players – including Emerson Royal – have improved under Stellini.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the Manager of the Month announcement – if Conte wins, we feel he should hand the award to Stellini after his tremendous efforts.
