Nuno Espirito Santo plans to speak with Harry Kane before the Tottenham Hotspur striker starts his holiday after Euro 2020, according to ESPN.

Daniel Levy appointed Nuno to occupy the vacant north London helm on Wednesday to end Spurs’ lengthy search. He accepted the role following further talks with Chairman Levy and Managing Director Fabio Paratici, and one of his first tasks will be convincing Kane to stay.

Nuno wants to sit down with Kane the moment his Euro 2020 duties are over to discuss his Tottenham future. The Portuguese hopes to open discussions as soon as possible before the England captain jets off to begin his holiday.

Kane has so far dismissed talking about his Tottenham future as he focuses on England and winning Euro 2020. The Three Lions leader opened his account to help beat Germany 2-0 and seal a quarter-final tie with Ukraine.

Manchester City have shown they are open to paying £100m for the 27-year-old this summer after he asked to leave. The offer, per The Guardian, included the option of a raft of players who could have moved to north London.

But Levy is determined to keep hold of Kane, who he values at £150m, per The Sun, and Nuno hopes to convince him to stay at Tottenham when the pair discuss his future. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss will also look to outline his vision for the club.

Nuno intends to sit down and talk Kane through his vision for Tottenham and any potential transfer targets. He will also meet those in the squad not on international duty next Tuesday or Wednesday, according to Alasdair Gold.

Nuno will be desperate to keep Kane at Tottenham

It goes without saying, but Nuno will be desperate to convince Kane to stay at Tottenham this summer. He represents a completely different calibre of player to those the Portuguese worked with at Wolves and will want around.

Manchester City have made efforts to sign the £200,000-per-week marksman, yet Nuno will know Tottenham will struggle to replace Kane. He led the Premier League for goals and assists last season and brings the most out of those around him.

Jack Grealish has been stunned by what Kane has shown in the England squad at Euro 2020 this summer. The Aston Villa captain has shared, via the Independent, what has stuck out to him about why Kane is more than just a goalscorer.

“When you see him around the place, this is why he is England captain. The thing that sticks out is that he is not just a goalscorer. There are players from the past who just scored goals, goals, goals. In my opinion, he will break the Premier League one [record] and the England one, but he is not just a goalscorer. He is unbelievable.”
