Back in 2021, Daniel Levy decided to bring Fabio Paratici to Tottenham in a bid to help Steve Hitchen with recruitment.
The Italian had forged a strong reputation for himself at Juventus, signing the likes of Paul Pogba and Andrea Pirlo on free transfers, and his arrival was seen as something of a coup for Spurs.
Paratici has overseen the signings of gems such as Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, Yves Bissouma and more, but a fresh development has revealed some other things he brought to Tottenham.
What’s the story?
Well, according to the Telegraph, it was the 50-year-old who told Levy to introduce matchday suits and a branded team bus.
Paratici was keen for Tottenham to not just talk like a big club, but act like one too.
The Telegraph believe that the Italian told Levy that branding the bus would help to change how Tottenham are perceived in the eye of the neutral, whereas the matchday suits represent a change of culture.
Whether or not the suits and branded bus had anything to do with it, Spurs have definitely improved since Paratici and Antonio Conte arrived in N17.
Fabio Paratici is future-proofing Tottenham
In our view, Paratici has made some fine under-the-radar signings which will surely help Tottenham in future – no matter who is managing the side.
The signing of Pape Matar Sarr from FC Metz last summer was a clever deal, for example.
The Senegal international arrived in a move worth £14.5m before rejoining the French side on loan, and other clubs have actually praised Spurs for the signing.
Sarr is yet to play a competitive game under Conte, although at the age of just 19, he has a seriously bright future.
Paratici is also close to signing Destiny Udogie from Udinese, a left-back who impressively scored five goals while also providing three assists in Serie A last season.
The defender – also aged 19, like Sarr – will rejoin Udinese on loan, but when they fulfil their potential in future, Tottenham will have two exquisite footballers on their hands.
