Is Destiny Udogie joining Tottenham Hotspur?
In a word, yes.
The Udinese defender has been heavily linked with a transfer to the Lilywhites in recent weeks.
Earlier this week, Pierpaolo Marino, a director of the Italian outfit, confirmed negotiations were taking place between them and Tottenham.
And Fabrizio Romano has an update on the matter.
According to the reliable Italian journalist, Udogie, valued at £21 million, will fly into North London on Monday to undergo a medical and, assuming everything is okay, will sign for Spurs a day later on the Tuesday.
Romano has added on Twitter that the North Londoners will immediately loan him back to the Serie A outfit for the 2022-23 campaign.
This is a really interesting addition, because of what it implies.
With Sergio Reguilon likely to be leaving North London, Tottenham will need an additional left-back this summer and with Udogie playing that role, he looks set to be the Spaniard’s long-term replacement.
However, Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici’s willingness to loan out Udogie is interesting.
Because either the Italian duo are content with Ryan Sessegnon and Ben Davies as left-sided defenders, or else Spurs will be bringing in another body – after Udogie – from now until the end of the season.
Apart from Udogie, there isn’t a lot of speculation about alternative left-backs, but watch this space.
