According to The Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers owners Fosun International have not budged on their stance over manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
The report notes that fans are calling for Nuno to go, but Fosun haven’t changed their position since December, believing that a mid-table finish is the best Wolves can hope for this season.
They understand that this has been a transition season, having sold the likes of Matt Doherty and Diogo Jota last season as well as losing key players to injury this season.
Nuno has faced a difficult task this season, and whilst Wolves only sit in 12th place and lost 4-0 to Burnley last weekend, Fosun don’t intend to axe him.
That’s interesting news as far as Tottenham are concerned, as they have been linked with making Nuno their new boss – ironically to replace Nuno’s former Porto boss Jose Mourinho.
The Express claimed in April that Spurs were looking at Nuno as a potential replacement for Mourinho, only for Correio da Manha in Portugal to claim that super-agent Jorge Mendes doesn’t want Nuno to join Spurs because he feels Tottenham are too unstable.
Spurs just sacked a Mendes client in Mourinho, meaning that could make some sense – but The Sun now suggest that Mendes is pushing Nuno to Spurs after all, offering him to Tottenham.
Fosun seemingly won’t push Nuno out of Molineux, but with mixed reports emerging about Tottenham, his future with Wolves remains unclear.
