Borussia Dortmund could make a move to sign PSG outcast Mauro Icardi this summer, with the Argentine striker also linked to Arsenal and Newcastle United.
According to Sky Germany, the 29-year-old attacker is one of four players Dortmund are looking at signing in the event that Sebastien Haller is out for a long period of time, with the Ivorian international currently awaiting results after being diagnosed with a testicular tumour last week.
With Dortmund waiting for a full diagnosis, the club have drawn up a four-player shortlist of potential strikers who the Bundesliga giants could sign in the short-term if Haller is out for some months, with reported Arsenal and Newcastle target Icardi a target.
The PSG forward is set to leave France this summer with the Ligue 1 champions desperate to offload the former Inter Milan striker, who is proving difficult to sell given his high wages and the lack of suitors despite links to Arsenal and Newcastle in recent months.
Signed for £45m and once hailed by former Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini as a ‘world-class’ centre-forward, Icardi’s fall from the top has been a dramatic one, with the attacker hardly playing for PSG last season as trouble off the pitch for the Argentine stole the headlines.
Indeed, a change of scenery would be ideal for Icardi, and if Dortmund are forced into a position where they need to sign a striker, the Arsenal and Newcastle target could be an ideal solution despite the baggage that comes with signing the PSG striker.

Icardi is one of modern football’s great enigmas. Once viewed as Inter’s next great striker to now being regarded as a joke a reality star player, the attacker needs to get his career back off the ground, and signing for Dortmund could do just that for the forward.
