Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offload striker Mauro Icardi this summer – and both Arsenal and Newcastle United are again being touted.

Icardi joined PSG on loan from Inter Milan back in 2019 before securing a €55million (£47million) permanent move in 2020.

The Argentinian isn’t exactly a first-choice player at PSG, having to sit behind Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi in the pecking order.

Icardi has scored just four goals in 23 league outings this season and hasn’t found the net at all in 2022.

That means PSG are looking to cash in this summer and flog Icardi, but according to RMC Sport, they are struggling to find a buyer.

PSG will have to take a major loss on Icardi to get him off the books and the Premier League is being talked up as a destination.

Calciomercato claim that Arsenal and Newcastle United are potential destinations for Icardi.

Arsenal are certainly in the market for a number of strikers this summer but Icardi surely isn’t going to be joining them.

Mikel Arteta has worked so hard at removing bad influences from his squad. Drama seems to follow Icardi around and that surely isn’t the kind of energy Arteta wants.

In fact, reports suggest that Arsenal actually rejected the chance to sign Icardi in January, so going back in for him this summer sounds very unlikely.

As for Newcastle, agents all over the world will be touting their clients for moves to St James’ Park this summer.

PIF’s huge investment means Newcastle could splash the cash and Icardi may be seen as a striker to help Chris Wood and Callum Wilson.

Yet once again, with Icardi’s less-than-stellar reputation, this may be one for Newcastle to avoid unless they can secure a cheap loan deal.
