AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly been in contact with Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele over a potential move this January.
According to Telefoot via the Daily Mail, the former Spurs boss has been on the phone with the French international over joining the Roman club this month.
After being booed off by his own fans over the weekend in the FA Cup, Ndombele’s time at Tottenham looks all-but over, and Mourinho’s Roma could provide an exit for the former Olympique Lyonnais star.
The 25-year-old, who remains Tottenham’s record signing, has struggled under three different managers at the club. And now, after three seasons, it looks like Ndombele will be leaving north London after his lowest episode yet.
Indeed, Roma are in the market for a midfielder this January, with the Serie A club reportedly close to signing FC Porto star Sergio Oliveira on loan. Yet it appears that Mourinho wants more, and seemingly, Ndombele.
A move to Italy could be ideal for the midfielder, especially under a manager who is familiar with how to coach him and how to get the best out of him. And for Ndombele, he must do all that he can to join Mourinho in Rome.
Mourinho could revive Ndombele’s career at Roma

There’s no denying that Ndombele is a special player with an incredible talent if he correctly conducts himself. Which is why a clean slate in the Italian capital is perfect for the midfielder.
After all, the pace and tempo of Serie A could be well-suited to Ndombele. And after playing in the Premier League and Ligue 1, the 25-year-old could be ready to dominate the Italian top-flight if Mourinho gets his man this January.
