The Telegraph’s James Ducker has claimed that Real Madrid are monitoring Liverpool target Cody Gakpo and his stellar performances at the World Cup.

Just recently, journalist Marco Vimmer reiterated that both Los Blancos and the Reds are interested in signing the Dutch international.

As per ED as well, it has been reported that Jurgen Klopp’s men could sign the PSV forward, who has 3 goals at the tournament for £43 million.

Fellow countryman Virgil van Dijk, whilst hailing Gakpo has even hinted that considering Real Madrid are perhaps the biggest club in the world, he would be likelier to join them than even a club of Man United’s stature (via Football Oranje).

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are monitoring Gakpo at the World Cup

James Ducker of the Telegraph has reported that Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on Cody Gakpo at the World Cup.

So far at the showpiece event, the 23-year-old has shone and how.

With 3 goals to his name in 4 starts, Gakpo has lit up the tournament.

The PSV forward has been a menace for defences in a free role up top.

While the Netherlands’ all-round performances have been called into question, the same cannot be said for the versatile forward, who has been ice-cold in front of goal.

And in the one game where he failed to find the back of the net against the USMNT, Gakpo perhaps enjoyed his best all-round game.

Liverpool should be worried about Real Madrid’s interest

Simply put, Real Madrid is a far more enticing destination than Liverpool currently.

The Spanish giants won the Champions League as well as La Liga last season.

Additionally, they could do the same this term.

Furthermore, Carlo Ancelotti’s side seem to be the favourites to land the all-encompassing Jude Bellingham in the summer.

While Liverpool seem to be on the up again, they have endured a catastrophic season.

If given the choice, Gakpo is far likelier to join the Spaniards than the Scousers.

If Real Madrid are indeed tracking Liverpool target Cody Gakpo at the World Cup, it could already be game over for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
