Reading are set to lose out to Huddersfield Town for the second time in less than a month as key midfielder Danny Williams closes in on a move to the Championship play-off winners, according to The Sun.
Williams’ Reading contract expires at the end of June and it is claimed the United States international will snub the chance to stay with the Royals in favour of a move to the Premier League.
Huddersfield boss David Wagner, who won eight caps for the USMNT during his own playing career, is said to have pursued Williams since his time with Freiburg and Hoffenheim, when he was in charge of Borussia Dortmund’s second team.
And the 28-year-old looks set to become Wagner’s first summer signing, with moves for Manchester City midfielder Aaron Mooy and Chelsea’s Isaiah Brown also in the pipeline according to The Sun.

Things could yet get worse for Reading, who were the highest-placed side going into the play-offs, with two more Premier League sides, Burnley and Swansea City, linked with moves for Royals stars Liam Moore and Liam Kelly respectively [Daily Mirror].
The Berkshire side’s manager, Jaap Stam, was recently listed as a contender for both the Leeds United and Southampton manager’s jobs.
How big a blow would Williams’ departure to Huddersfield be for Reading?
