Rangers target Fashion Sakala looks set to leave Oostende.

Record Sport have claimed that Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard wants the Zambian international to join on a pre-contract agreement.

Sakala, who has also been linked with West Ham in recent weeks, appears to be on his way out of the Belgian top flight club.

The 23-year-old striker, who has 13 caps for his country, signed a three-year contract in July 2018.

With Sakala’s contract nearing an end, the club’s sporting director Gauthier Ganaye has revealed difficulties with the player’s agent.

Speaking on the club’s official website, Ganaye said: “We have made three to four offers since last summer.

“Fortunately, Fashion is in Oostende and I am convinced that he can take further steps under (manager) Alexander Blessin.

“However, I feel that his agent is not really respecting KV Oostende as he is no longer responding to our offers.

“A career is an accumulation of decisions and I hope that Fashion has the right people around it to make the right decisions because it deserves that.

“On the transfer deadline day we received a few more offers for him, but in the end there was no transfer.

“It is still our intention to keep him here longer.”

The current crop of Rangers players turned in one of their worst performance of an otherwise excellent campaign on Sunday afternoon.

Gerrard’s men conceded an equaliser in the dying seconds against Hamilton Accies, and had to be content with a 1-1 draw as they left New Douglas Park.

Their manager was unimpressed with the performance, and Record Sport quoted him as saying: ““I thought that was our worst performance of the season. Individual performances today weren’t good enough.

“It’s the easy way out to say it’s a bad day at the office. We had one of them at St Mirren and that’s the reason we can’t win a League Cup. Today was worse.”
