Rangers youngster James Maxwell has an offer from Scottish Championship side Dunfermline Athletic, with Leeds linked with the defender last week.
According to the Daily Record, a bid is on the table from the 10th-place second-tier Scottish side, with Partick Thistle also amongst the clubs interested in signing Maxwell in January.
The Rangers defender is currently out on loan with Ayr United, though it is likely that Maxwell will leave the club this month for a permanent move to a new club either in Scotland or England.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Maxwell has admitted that his time with Rangers is over, and that a transfer from Ibrox will be best for his career.
The defender said when asked about his future: “I’ve accepted the fact that I’ll probably need to leave Rangers. At a big club, it’s always hard to break through. I knew my chances would be limited.”
As well as interest from Scotland, Leeds are said to be keen on Maxwell, with the Daily Mail listing the youngster as one of the many players Marcelo Bielsa’s side are tracking this January.
Departure from Rangers best decision Maxwell can make

Leaving a club as big as Rangers will be difficult for any young player, but for Maxwell, it is probably the best decision the 20-year-old fullback can make this January.
Minutes will be hard to come by at Ibrox. And with the left-back position stacked at Rangers, Maxwell is likely better off leaving the Scottish giants in search of a club that will be willing to play him regularly at a senior level.
