Rangers are ready to offload defender George Edmundson as well as his Ibrox teammate Jordan Jones, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that Rangers director of football Ross Wilson will consider sending 26-year-old winger Jones and 23-year-old central defender Edmundson out on loan in the January transfer window.

Both the players are now available for Rangers manager Steven Gerrard, having served their seven-game ban for breaching Covid-19 rules.

Disappointing for George Edmundson

Edmundson is a very talented and promising young defender who is rated highly by Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish.

Dalglish wrote in The Sunday Post in March 2020 that the 23-year-old “has a bright future and could go on to become a big, big player for Rangers”.

However, things have not worked out that way for the Englishman, who is essentially a squad player at Rangers at the moment and is unlikely to get much playing time in the coming weeks and months.

According to WhoScored, the 23-year-old centre-back has played just 14 minutes in the Scottish Premiership, twice in the Scottish Cup and once in the Europa League for the Gers so far this season.
