Burton Albion are the latest club linked with a move for the Rangers outcast, who has reportedly been told he can leave Ibrox by Pedro Caixinha.
Rangers paid Doncaster Rovers an undisclosed fee for the 26-year-old 18 months ago, but new boss Pedro Caixinha has reportedly told him he can leave.
Harry Forrester of Rangers celebrates
Nevertheless, it is unlikely that Rangers would be making a significant loss on Forrester, whose initial contract only lasted until the end of that season (2015-16).
The Englishman is said to have been a target for English League One sides Southend United and Charlton Athletic earlier this summer, with The Daily Record suggesting he turned down a move to the former, who signed his teammate Rob Kiernan last week.
But The Daily Mail is now reporting interest from a division above, with Burton Albion ‘understood to be monitoring developments’, and an approach from the Brewers could finally convince Forrester to call time on his Rangers career.
The former Aston Villa talent has scored eight goals and made another three in 44 Rangers outings, and helped the side then managed by his former mentor Mark Warburton to the 2015-16 Championship title.
