According to Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti, Rangers are interested in snapping up Rijeka talent Ivan Lepinjica.

It’s claimed that the Gers are keen on a loan deal with an option to buy, and it’s unclear whether Rijeka would take such a deal.

Teams in France, Italy and Spain are also thought to be keen on signing Lepinjica, meaning Rangers will have to fight off major competition for a deal.

Who is Rangers target Ivan Lepinjica?

Lepinjica is just 21, has been with hometown club Rijeka since 2013, and now has 70 appearances for the club to his name, bagging two goals and two assists in that time.

Primarily a holding midfield player, Lepinjica was even compared to Paul Pogba by Rijeka expert Ivan Zezelj when speaking to HITC Sport.

That’s a pretty lofty comparison for Lepinjica, but Rangers may well see huge potential in the Croatian Under-21 international – just as they did with compatriots Nikola Katic and Borna Barisic.

Huge clubs have wanted Lepinjica

This isn’t the first time Lepinjica has been linked with a move away from Rijeka, with Zezelj claiming that Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were back tracking him last year.

T Portal even suggested that Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion were also keen, meaning English clubs certainly have Lepinjica on their radar.

This could be a coup for Rangers, and although Nnamdi Ofoborh is arriving this summer, it seems that the Gers are moving for another midfielder this summer.
