According to The Mirror, Raheem Sterling is ‘angry’ with Manchester City for trying to send him to Tottenham Hotspur.

Sterling helped City win the Premier League title last season, bagging 10 goals and seven assists in 31 league outings.

However, speculation surrounds his future given that he has just two years left on his contract, and it seems that he isn’t too pleased.

Sterling offered up to Tottenham

It was suggested by The Telegraph just a matter of days ago that Sterling was on offer to Tottenham in a potential part-exchange deal for Harry Kane – but Sterling wasn’t interested.

Given that Sterling earns around £300,000-a-week at City, a move to Tottenham always seemed unlikely anyway, as they just can’t afford those wages.

The mere idea could now cost City though, as it’s stated that Sterling would have been open to discussing a new contract, but he is angry at being offered up as a makeweight for Kane.

That could now mean Sterling doesn’t entertain contract talks after all, with the England star

Are Arsenal any more likely to sign Sterling?

Eurosport claim that Arsenal have made a first move for Sterling and Riyad Mahrez by enquiring about the City duo.

Edu seemingly believes he can lure Sterling to the Emirates Stadium, and a reunion with former City coach Mikel Arteta could appeal.

Again though, it’s the wages. Arsenal aren’t really in a position to be paying around £300,000-a-week to Sterling, and bringing him back to London seems like a pipedream.

This does speak to a problem for Sterling though. He may be angry at City, but he has limited escape routes right now due to his wages and the few numbers of clubs that would be interested and aren’t a huge step down.

Sterling to Tottenham can surely be killed off now, but the story of his City future is far from over.
