According to Eurosport, Arsenal have now lodged enquiries for Manchester City wing duo Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez.

It’s claimed that Arsenal have decided to make their first moves for the pair having learned that City are moving in for Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

City need to raise funds for that deal, and Arsenal seemingly hope that Tottenham’s loss can be their gain with a double raid on Pep Guardiola’s men.

Arsenal add Sterling and Mahrez to ambitious target list

The Gunners have been targeting real talent in the likes of Ben White, Yves Bissouma, Ruben Neves, James Maddison and Andre Silva.

Sterling and Mahrez are another level up though, with Arsenal attempting to sign the pair who started last month’s Champions League final.

‘Insiders’ claim that Arsenal are ready to invest ‘heavily’ this summer, with the new moves for Sterling and Mahrez backing up those suggestions.

Landing them won’t be easy for Arsenal

It’s stated that Sterling and Mahrez are ‘unlikely’ to be interested in joining Arsenal, meaning the Gunners face an uphill task in their pursuit.

Sterling cost City £49million and earns £300,000-a-week in wages, whilst Mahrez cost £60million with £120,000 in wages heading to the Algerian winger.

Arsenal would face paying more than £400,000-a-week in wages to the two players, and that just doesn’t seem possible for the Gunners – even if Mikel Arteta fancies reuniting with the pair having worked together at City.
