Newcastle have desperately struggled for goals this term, while Sorensen has been hitting the back of the net with great frequency for the Magpies’ development squad.
However, Sorensen’s performances have not been enough to convince Benitez to call him up the senior squad.
HITC have reported how Newcastle have been urging Benitez to give Sorensen a run of games.
But the Spanish boss reportedly feels that the 19-year-old is not yet ready to play in the Premier League.
Sorensen’s 12 goals at development squad level have done little to alter Benitez’s opinion that his senior options are more likely scorers than the youngster in the top tier.
Newcastle are still looking for their first win in the Premier League, and currently sit in the relegation zone.
The Magpies are next in action this weekend, when they take on Watford.
