According to Tuttosport, Rafa Benítez could lose James Rodríguez very early on into his reign at Everton, thanks to Jorge Mendes.
What’s the story?
Well, the Italian news outlet is claiming that AC Milan could be offered the chance to sign either Rodríguez or Philippe Coutinho.
Coincidentally, Coutinho has been linked with a move to Goodison Park.
Regardless of that, Tuttosport believe Mendes is thinking about offering the Colombian around Europe, for a price of just €10 million (£9 million).
That will surely annoy Benítez, who is having to deal with this situation before even getting a chance to settle into his new role on Merseyside.
Strangely, Tuttosport add that Rodríguez has been ‘discharged’ by Everton following Carlo Ancelotti’s departure – whatever that could mean.
Everton would profit, at least

It would be a real shame to lose a player of Rodríguez’s quality.
The man who Gary Lineker called delightful impressed hugely after arriving on a free transfer from Real Madrid last summer.
However, his form tailed off drastically as injuries crept in.
Despite that, it would be a bit disappointing for him to go before he experiences a full Goodison Park.

Nevertheless, if someone takes Mendes up on his £9 million option, Everton would at least make £9 million profit on their free transfer.
The Toffees would also be able to shift his £90,000-a-week wages, which puts him among the club’s top earners.
