PSG are reportedly considering a move to sign Valencia playmaker Carlos Soler, a player Liverpool have been rumoured to be interested in for quite some time.

According to Marca, the French giants are eyeing the Spanish international as a potential signing if they are unable to sign Fabian Ruiz from Napoli, a deal that is looking increasingly unlikely with PSG not willing to match the Serie A side’s asking price for the 26-year-old.

As a result, PSG’s sporting director Luis Campos has eyed Valencia’s ‘enchanting’ midfield maestro Soler as an alternative, with the 25-year-old having a reported release clause of €50m (£43m) as the winger heads into the new season in the final year of his contract with the Spanish side.

Liverpool have been reportedly chasing Soler for some time, and with the Reds’ midfield problems causing some major issues this season, Jurgen Klopp could take a punt in the transfer market in the form of the Valencia captain, who could now be set for a move to PSG should the French side make a move for the playmaker.

A star in La Liga and versatile in many midfield positions and roles, Soler is perfect for what many clubs are looking for in a ball-progressing playmaker who has the ability to transition play at pace, yet whilst the 25-year-old could be a perfect addition for Liverpool, PSG’s interest could cause some major problems for the Merseyside giants.

Indeed, the Parisian side have turned a corner under Campos and Christophe Galtier where signings are now based on what is needed in the squad rather than which superstars are available, and Soler is a player who fits this new philosophy to a tee, with Liverpool now set to miss out on a top player.

PSG signing Soler could be the club’s last big move of the summer window

PSG have made some impressive moves this summer from Renato Sanches to Hugo Ekitike to Vitinha, and signing Soler to cap off the window could be the best way for the Ligue 1 giants to wrap up their spending in the market, with Liverpool unlikely to move for the Valencia winger.

Whilst Soler would fit perfectly what Liverpool need this summer, we have seen how inactive the Reds can be in times of a crisis in the transfer market, and for PSG, this means they can swoop in and land the Valencia star with next-to-no competition in the final week of the window.
