Liverpool are reportedly battling Juventus to sign Valencia star Carlos Soler this summer – as contract talks continue to stutter. A player, that is said to have begged Valencia to let him join Manchester United back in 2017.
Soler, 25, is out of contract in the summer of 2023. The six-time Spain international has been sensational for the La Liga side this season, having a hand in 15 goals in his 28 games – scoring 10 goals and creating five more.
GolsMedia claim that Valencia are offering a contract worth £48,500 a week after tax. But no deal has been signed and both Liverpool and Juventus are interested in raiding Valencia to sign Soler – a boyhood Valencia player.
However, reports in 2017 claim that Soler was hell-bent on a move to Liverpool’s rivals Manchester United. It is said he was ‘begging’ Valencia to let him move to Old Trafford with a fee of £45million being touted around.
Liverpool eye Soler: Why he is the perfect summer addition for Reds
Some pundits are beginning to take notice that Liverpool now have the stronger strength-in-depth when comparing to Manchester City. That is, despite the loss of Xherdan Shaqiri and Gini Wijnaldum last summer.
Harvey Elliott has come in, while the club also boast the likes of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones – but all four are somewhat prone to injury and a goalscoring midfielder is needed at Liverpool.
Soler, who has 33 goals and 31 assists in his 213 Valencia outings, would be the ideal signing. He would be whole lot cheaper than the £45million suggested in 2017 too – given his current contract situation.
