PSG have reportedly made one final offer to sign Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, with Tottenham also interested in the Slovakian superstar ahead of the last week of the transfer window.

According to L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 champions have made a last-ditch bid to sign Skriniar, a player PSG have been looking to recruit for the entire summer, however, as per the report, Inter will not entertain the offer in the slightest, with the centre-back set to remain in Milan for the year.

As per the report, Inter grew tired of PSG’s tedious approach over talks for Skriniar, and as a result, the Serie A side have completely pulled the plug on all negotiations with the Parisian side for their star defender, who the Nerazzurri reportedly value as highly as €81m (£68m).

A player Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici reportedly view as the dream signing for Tottenham, it looks like Inter have blocked any and all offers for Skriniar for the remainder of the window, yet with the centre-back’s contract expiring next summer, a bargain could be on the table come the January market.

Indeed, Tottenham have already signed one defender this summer in Clement Lenglet on loan from FC Barcelona, yet Skriniar would be a significant upgrade on any centre-back currently on Spurs’ books, and with Inter set to retain the Slovakian for the first half of the season, the north London side should be plotting a move in 2023.

Whilst there are rumours that Skriniar could sign a new contract with Inter, no such announcement or breakthrough is yet to be made, meaning that as far as Tottenham and Paratici are concerned, the 27-year-old is there for the taking come the January transfer window.

Skriniar is one of Europe’s best defenders and is currently hitting the prime of his carer, and for the likes of PSG and Tottenham, the two clubs could face a transfer battle next year to sign the Inter star should his contract situation not resolve itself in the coming months.

With both Europan clubs having a strong case of signing Skriniar, Tottenham will have to make a good elevator pitch to secure the defender’s signature, with PSG and their success in winning silverware arguably the only factor that stands the French side out from their north London transfer rivals.
