Napoli owner Aurelio di Laurentiis has struck an agreement with Allan that the Everton and Newcastle United target will be allowed to leave the Stadio San Paolo if an acceptable offer arrives this summer, according to AreaNapoli.

What counts as an acceptable offer, however, is rather less certain.

A wide range of prospective transfer fees have been bandied around for the Brazil international, with some publications suggesting that Gennaro Gattuso’s Serie A giants would demand up to £70 million.

A fee of £35 million, put forward by AreaNapoli, feels more realistic in this strained market, however. Allan will be 30 this time next year after all.

Everton continue to be mentioned as a likely destination for a former Udinese ace who shone under Carlo Ancelotti in Naples. A move to a Newcastle side who will, red tape aside, be bankrolled soon enough by a Saudi Arabian billionaire is also a possibility, according to AreaNapoli.

Allan has fallen out of favour somewhat under Gattuso, with a man never afraid of confrontation slamming the long-serving midfielder’s performances in training recently. So it should perhaps be no surprise that an agreement has been made for the 29-year-old to go, with Di Laurentiis willing to listen to offers.

Allan may be Everton-bound and he has already shone on Merseyside under Ancelotti this season. He was the best player on the pitch as Napoli held Liverpool to a 1-1 Champions League draw in November, covering almost every inch of the Anfield turf while making a game-high five tackles.

Did someone say ‘Idrissa Gana Gueye’ replacement?
