Tottenham have reportedly chosen to sign Pau Lopez permanently.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Tottenham Hotspur have decided to pay the €7million (£6million) buyout clause in the loan deal for Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez.
Spurs already have one of the finest goalkeepers in the Premier League with Hugo Lloris between the sticks, whilst his backup Michel Vorm is good enough to be playing regularly.

However, Tottenham boss decided to bring in another goalkeeper over the summer, as he raided former club Espanyol to sign young shot-stopper Pau Lopez on loan for the duration of this season.

Lopez, 22, came up through the ranks with the Barcelona-based club during Pochettino’s time in charge, and he went on to make 38 first-team appearances for Espanyol.

However, the La Liga side brought in two goalkeepers last summer, with Diego Lopez and Roberto Jimenez arriving, prompting Espanyol to allow Lopez to join Tottenham on loan with a view to a permanent move.
Lopez has so far yet to make a first-team appearance for Tottenham, but he appears to have impressed Pochettino enough to earn a permanent move, as Catalan newspaper Sport report that that Tottenham have decided to activate the £6million buyout clause in the deal.
Pochettino seemingly views Lopez as a goalkeeper for the future, and whilst he has been third-choice this term, the Spaniard could play more in the near future given Michel Vorm’s situation at White Hart Lane.

The Dutchman has less than 18 months left on his contract with Spurs, and at 33, he may want to move on and play more first-team football having made just 29 appearances since arriving from Swansea in 2014 – and with a young goalkeeper already in place in Lopez, Vorm could be allowed to leave this summer.
