The Emir of Qatar still dreams of Arsene Wenger occupying a role at Paris Saint-Germain, which could derail Mikel Arteta’s desires for the Arsenal legend’s return to north London.

Arteta recently stated, via BBC Sport, that he wants to bring the former Gunners manager back to the Emirates Stadium. The pair have also spoken about the possibility of Wenger taking up a backroom role at the club he led to three Premier League titles over 22-years.

Wenger and Arteta discussed the current Arsenal manager’s plans at the premiere of the documentary about the Frenchman in November. But Arteta refused to state what role he envisages the 72-year-old – currently Chief of Football Development at FIFA – occupying.

Arteta has taken great inspiration from Wenger and The Athletic report he has embraced the Frenchman’s legacy at London Colney. A floor-to-ceiling image of Wenger along with quotes of his greet players, staff and guests at the Gunners’ training ground.

But Paris Saint-Germain may yet derail Arteta’s plans for Wenger to occupy a greater in-person role at Arsenal.

Emir of Qatar wants Arsenal icon Wenger at Paris Saint-Germain

According to Foot Mercato, the Emir of Qatar dreams of Arsenal legend Wenger occupying a role at Paris Saint-Germain still. The hierarchy at the Ligue 1 outfit no longer consider the 72-year-old a possible manager, but want him to occupy a leadership position at the club.

Mauricio Pochettino’s uncertain future as Les Parisiens’ head coach could also prove a key factor. PSG would consider Zinedine Zidane a possible replacement for the Argentine after leaving Real Madrid earlier this year.

Foot Mercato consider Zidane replacing Pochettino a huge motivation for Wenger to follow him to Paris. The Gunners icon appreciates his compatriot and could listen to PSG’s offer.
