Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Arthur Melo, a player Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are planning a move for.

According to TuttoJuve, Juventus want to sign Thomas Partey from Arsenal and have proposed a swap deal involving Arthur Melo.

The Italian news outlet has claimed that Arsenal have looked at signing the former Barcelona midfielder before.

It was TuttoJuve who had earlier reported that Newcastle United were planning to make a move for Arthur.

The report claimed that the Magpies want to sign the 26-year-old on a loan deal in the summer transfer window with a view to permanent move.

What should Arsenal do about Arthur Melo?

In our opinion, Arsenal should not accept Juventus’s offer of a swap deal involving Arthur Melo.

Now, the Gunners may be willing to offload Thomas Partey, but they should accept cash from Juventus and not a player-swap deal involving Arthur.

After all, the Brazilian had a really torrid time at Liverpool last season when he was on loan at Anfield.

The former Barcelona midfielder was able to play only 13 minutes in the UEFA Champions League for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Arthur could not make a single appearance in the Premier League.

Swapping Partey for Arthur would see Arsenal get a downgrade on the Ghanian star.

If Newcastle want to bring the Brazilian to St. James’ park in the summer transfer window, then Arsenal should just let them and should not get involved.
