Paulo Fonseca now looks set for a move to Major League Soccer side Atlanta United after missing out on becoming the new Tottenham Hotspur boss.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who claim that Fonseca is ‘very close’ to finding an agreement with Atlanta.
A number of European clubs are thought to have made a move for Fonseca, but he has interviewed with Atlanta president Darren Eales.
Fonseca is now described as being tempted by the move to Atlanta, seemingly believing that heading to the United States is a good move for him.
Atlanta thrived under Gerardo Martino, but Frank de Boer and Gabriel Heinze have failed to replicate the magic and Fonseca is now in line to take over.
This is though a massive step down from Tottenham, who looked all set to appoint Fonseca as their new manager back in June.

The deal fell through at the last minute, though Fonseca waited for Tottenham to come back in and Fabio Paratici even considered resurrecting the move.
Fonseca was outstanding as Shakhtar Donetsk boss but his time at Roma was a little more mixed, leaving some Tottenham fans underwhelmed when Paratici targeted him.
The irony is that Atlanta president Eales is a former Tottenham man himself, working closely with Daniel Levy in his role as director of football administration – and who knows, maybe Fonseca will end up back on Tottenham’s radar one day with Eales able to give Levy a reference.
