According to Goal, Ben Woodburn won’t spend this season at Liverpool as he goes in search of regular football.
Hearts are interested in loaning the 21-year-old, and it seems as though his days at Anfield may be numbered.
The player once dubbed as ‘outstanding’ by Jurgen Klopp is in the final year of his deal at the club, and if he goes out on loan, it’s not outlandish to suggest that he may never come back.
Sadly, despite being the Reds’ youngest-ever goalscorer, Woodburn has never kicked on in his career, struggling during numerous loan spells, even at League One level.
However, despite the fact Woodburn has struggled in recent years, it’s something of a surprise to hear that he’ll be headed out this summer.
Indeed, Woodburn has reportedly impressed Jurgen Klopp in pre-season, while Pep Lijnders has been equally as impressed, claiming last week that the Welshman has a future at Anfield.
Of course, he could still have a future at Anfield after this seemingly impending loan spell, but when he returns he’ll nearly be 23, and at that age, you’ve got to be making an impact if you’re going to make it at a club like Liverpool.
Woodburn’s long-term future is certainly up in the air, but it seems as though the Reds have decided that he won’t be spending this season with them.
