According to The Athletic, Ben Woodburn has blown Jürgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders away with his performances in pre-season training.

What’s the story?

Well, The Athletic believe Woodburn has played his way into the market, with teams from Greece, Denmark and Croatia now seriously interested.

The 21-year-old’s performances in training have been described by one source as “out of this world” – he has also been credited by Klopp as someone who is helping to raise the level of sessions.

Peter Krawietz has also been dazzled by Woodburn in training.

The Athletic believe the 10-cap Wales international’s level of performance is one which Klopp, Lijnders and Krawietz have not yet seen from him.

Woodburn’s excellent display against Osasuna on Monday has really put his name back in the spotlight, with Championship teams also interested.

What should Liverpool do with Ben Woodburn?

Now, this is a tough one.

The Athletic claim that Liverpool do feel a loyalty to Woodburn based on his service and connection to the Reds, as he joined the club as an Under-7.

Now aged 21, the attacker – who’s only made 11 appearances for Liverpool – also has plenty of time to improve.

Let’s not forget when Woodburn burst onto the scene with that goal against Leeds at Anfield – there’s certainly a lot of talent in there somewhere.

However, what Liverpool have somewhat forgotten to do in recent times is sell players when their value is high.

Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri are now worth much less than they would’ve been had the Reds sold them a year or two ago.

Woodburn’s stock is currently high, but it will surely drop significantly if he stagnates once the 2021/22 campaign begins.

In that respect, perhaps it’s time for Liverpool to put sentiment aside and sell their asset while his price is high.
