Tottenham Hotspur’s new signing Emerson Royal could make his first start for the club against Crystal Palace this afternoon.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Emerson could be thrown straight into the starting XI.

Emerson only joined Tottenham from Barcelona last week with his move beating the transfer deadline.

The Brazilian arrived in London earlier this week and, as a result, has been in training under Nuno for the last few days.

Having been in London throughout Nuno’s planning to face Palace, Emerson now seems to be in a strong position to make his Tottenham debut.

Where could Emerson fit into the Tottenham team?

A right back by trade, Emerson could slot straight into that role for Tottenham.

Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez are both missing after international games. Joe Rodon looks unlikely to play after sitting on the bench for Wales.

That means Japhet Tanganga could shit inside to play at centre back, joining Eric Dier. Frankly, Nuno doesn’t have any other options in that area.

That would then free up Emerson to start at right back. Subsequently, that would leave Matt Doherty on the sidelines.

Throwing Emerson straight in is bold, but with so many players missing, he may be needed to start.

Fans likely can’t wait to see Emerson in action, and they may now only have a few hours to wait.
