Report: Nottingham Forest, Newcastle yet to agree on Jack Colback loan

Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback was on loan at Nottingham Forest during the second half of last season.

Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United have not yet agreed a loan deal regarding Jack Colback, according to The Chronicle (Transfer Live blog, 17:18pm, Thursday, July 19, 2018).

The Daily Mail (Transfer Live blog, 16:09pm, Thursday, July 19, 2018) claimed that Championship club Forest had agreed a loan deal with Premier League side Newcastle over Colback, who spent the second half of the 2017-18 season on loan at the City Ground (click here to read more).

Move inevitable?

Colback is not in the plans of Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez for the 2018-19 campaign, and the former Sunderland midfielder is clearly not rated by the ex-Liverpool manager.

The 28-year-old was successful during his loan spell at Forest during the second half of last season, scoring one goal in 16 Championship appearances.

It would make sense for the Reds to sign the English midfielder on a loan deal, as they are aiming to challenge for the Championship playoffs next season.

Colback should also be eager to move back to Forest, as he had a good time at the City Ground and will get to play regularly for Aitor Karanka’s side next season.
