According to RMC Sport, Newcastle and West Ham are interested in signing Strasbourg defender Gerzino Nyamsi, who has shone this season.
What’s the story?
Well, it’s no surprise to see the Magpies and the Hammers closely scouting the 25-year-old.
RMC Sport state that Nyamsi – who Napoli bid for in January – has been one of the best defenders in France this season, and the statistics prove it.
The French news outlet detail how he leads the way in terms of tackles, aerial duels and dribbles into the opposition half.
By the sounds of it, Nyamsi is a progressive defender who would excel in a possession-based Premier League side, as well as a team who often defend for their lives.
So far this season, the Saint-Brieuc-born colossus has made 27 appearances in all competitions, providing two assists.
Newcastle must beat West Ham to Gerzino Nyamsi

In our view, Newcastle should do all they can to sign Nyamsi, as he’s clearly a better option than Sven Botman.
The 22-year-old also plays in Ligue 1, although – as aforesaid – Nyamsi tops the charts for defensive actions and ball carries, so he’s outdoing Botman in that respect.
Amanda Staveley has already confirmed that the Dutchman is keen to join Newcastle, but with AC Milan said to be closing in on a deal, a move for Nyamsi should be their next course of action.

West Ham might pose a threat, as they look set to be able to offer targets the chance to play Europa League football next season.
However, Newcastle are now among the richest clubs in Europe, so they could blow the Irons out of the water from a financial aspect.
