Newcastle United are reportedly weighing up the idea of making a second offer to sign Watford attacker Joao Pedro, with the Hornets already rejecting a £20m bid for the rumoured Liverpool target this week.
According to the Daily Mail, the Magpies are contemplating the possibility of returning to Watford with a revised offer for Pedro, with Newcastle having a £20m proposal shot down by the Championship side, with the Vicarage Road side intent on keeping the Brazilian this summer.
Although Pedro scored just three goals for Watford last season, the 20-year-old is regarded as one of the Hertfordshire club’s best prospects, with Liverpool reportedly also interested in the former Fluminense prospect, who could be tempted with a return to the Premier League in the form of Newcastle.
Eddie Howe’s side are yet to sign an attacker this summer after signing the likes of Sven Botman and Nick Pope, with forward depth for the likes of Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin a priority for Newcastle in the final weeks of the summer transfer window, and Pedro could be perfect.
Labelled as a ‘brilliant’ player by former Watford goalkeeper and captain Ben Foster, Pedro impressed in patches for Watford last season, and at an ambitious side like Newcastle, the South American talent could explode in the Premier League if given the time and patience to develop under Howe.
Indeed, with Newcastle in need of an attacker to cover for Wilson and Saint-Maximin, Pedro is the perfect candidate to take this role for the coming years, but with Watford rejecting a £20m offer for the forward, the Magpies might have to break the bank to sign the 20-year-old.
Newcastle should go all out to sign Pedro this summer

Newcastle have been somewhat quiet in their business this summer, but with one win and a draw in their opening to Premier League fixtures, Howe seems to be going about the Toon’s squad management in an intelligent way, and signing Pedro could be one of the best moves the English manager makes this year.
After all, Newcastle need added depth in the attack, and at 20, Pedro is at the perfect age to develop in the northeast and for Howe to instil his philosophy for his grand plan for the future for the Magpies, something the Brazilian could be enticed by should he move to St. James Park this summer.
