According to Estadio Deportivo, Newcastle could hire Frank Lampard to replace Steve Bruce, after the Saudi takeover was completed.

What’s the story?

Well, the Spanish news outlet went into detail about what Newcastle could do to completely transform the club, following the takeover.

Estadio Deportivo mention that Real Betis are worried about Newcastle taking Nabil Fekir, while Keylor Navas, Mauro Icardi and Philippe Coutinho are also mentioned as targets.

Managers are also discussed, which is where Lampard is mentioned as the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia look to offload Steve Bruce.

Antonio Conte’s name also pops up, as the Italian is currently unemployed after leaving Inter Milan.

According to The Telegraph, Bruce could receive a payout worth £8m if he is sacked by the new owners.

Do a terrible job for two years and receive £8m as a result? We need to get ourselves into football management, that’s for sure.

Would Frank Lampard suit Newcastle?

In our view, we feel Newcastle could aim a bit higher than the man with 28 Premier League wins to his name.

Lampard was interviewed by Crystal Palace over the summer, and the Eagles instead opted to hire Patrick Vieira (London News Online).

If the 43-year-old wasn’t good enough for Crystal Palace, why would Newcastle feel he’s the man to lead this hugely ambitious revolution?

Lampard – who admitted his management style is ‘heavily influenced‘ by Carlo Ancelotti – shouldn’t even be in the equation when someone like Conte is available.

With a net worth of £320bn, the Italian can surely be lured to Tyneside, even if he may have to be convinced by a huge salary.
