According to The Mirror, Everton are considering a move to make Frank Lampard their new manager.

The Toffees were rocked on Tuesday as what appeared to be a rumour about Carlo Ancelotti returning to Real Madrid quickly became the truth.

By the end of the day, Ancelotti was confirmed as Real’s new manager and Everton were left to consider a replacement.

A host of names are already being linked, and this report suggests that Lampard is one of the names being considered by the Toffees.

Lampard is out of work having lost his job at Chelsea in January, though he did win 44 of his 84 games in charge – around 52%.

Lampard is credited with developing a number of young players at Chelsea, especially Mason Mount as he has now become one of the Premier League’s top midfielders.

That work could be appealing to Everton, and a move would see him replace Ancelotti, the man who managed him at Chelsea.

Lampard admitted in 2020 that he has been ‘heavily influenced’ by Ancelotti in and out of the game, branding him one of the top managers he has ever worked with.

Stepping into his role would be fascinating, but Lampard is just one of a host of names believed to be on the Everton radar at this moment.
