Newcastle United failed to get a deal over the line for Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend in January.
According to a report in the Northern Echo, Newcastle United still want Andros Townsend next summer.
Newcastle are hoping to be playing Premier League football next season, but regardless of what division they are in, they will make a move for the Crystal Palace man.
Newcastle’s new transfer plan proves Benitez finally trusts summer signing
The Magpies spent most of January chasing Townsend, but they could not agree a fee with Palace.

Newcastle wanted to take the 25-year-old on loan, but Palace were demanding a £2 million fee to allow the winger to leave for six months, and it was deemed that the transfer was simply too expensive.
Palace were also reportedly open to selling Townsend, but his £15 million price-tag was considered too rich for a side without a guarantee of top flight football next season.

Rafael Benitez has not given up hope of signing Townsend though, and is expected to make a repeat bid to sign him in the summer.
Newcastle have reportedly been told that Townsend would be eager to move back to St. James’ Park, if the opportunity arises.

And, after struggling at Palace so far, it is expected that Townsend will be made available in the next transfer window.
Townsend has scored just once in 27 appearances for the Eagles to date.
