Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claim Newcastle United have tabled an offer of £24million to sign Leeds United winger Jack Harrison – but the offer is likely to be rejected, with Leeds holding out for a fee closer to £36million.

This summer, Leeds have already cashed in on Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips. Raking in £100million for both players – £92million in initial payments – Leeds will be wary of selling another. They certainly do not need to in order to spend.

Having already brought in six new players, and the likelihood that spending will continue on a striker – and possibly a left-back and a back-up goalkeeper – Leeds would much rather keep their squad intact rather than having to replace.

But Newcastle are ready to test their resolve. They have been linked with Harrison – branded “amazing” by Alan Shearer – for much of the window. Now, TMW claim Newcastle have made an official bid of £24million.

An offer that instantly sees Leeds more than double their initial outlay of £11million. But the report states that Leeds want another £12million on top, a fee closer to £36million. He has a contract at Elland Road until June 2024.

Newcastle have tabled £24million offer to sign Leeds winger Harrison

Newcastle are seemingly intent on buying Harrison. The Toon do have Allan Saint-Maximin, but do lack competition. Of course, they also lack a starting right-sided winger and maybe Harrison or Saint-Maximin could do a job there.

But Leeds are right to reject such a fee. Under no pressure to sell Harrison, why would they cash in unless they get a wild offer for the English ace? Harrison did hint at an exit, but it seems Newcastle will have to up their offer.
