The Athletic report that Newcastle United are the latest club to show interest in Rangers wonderkid Jack Wylie – with Arsenal and Manchester United also said to be looking at the 15-year-old, as Rangers try to keep him at Ibrox.

Wylie made the step to Under-18 level at Rangers in the last fortnight. Even before that, Arsenal were desperate to try and take him south. Following in the footsteps of Billy Gilmour to Chelsea, and striker Rory Wilson to Aston Villa.

The Record reported as early as October that Arsenal were pursuing a move to sign Wylie from Rangers. Then, last week, the Daily Star said Manchester United had joined Arsenal in the race to land the Scotland Under-16 player.

Now it appears that Newcastle are the latest club to become interested in Wylie. Showing just how big the Toon value themselves, sitting at the table with the Premier League’s largest clubs, they are also interested in raiding Rangers.

So, where best for Wylie? The report states that Rangers are keen to keep him and tie him down to a new deal. While any chance of first-team involvement is a year or two away, his best chance of attaining such is by staying at Rangers.

However, should he be tempted with a move down south – which club would be best for him? Newcastle are spending big. While the breakthrough of Elliott Anderson shows a faith in youth, it is hard to incorporate youth when so rich.

Arsenal are also showing faith in youth. But, the quality of the squad at Arsenal and Manchester United for that matter is vast. Ethan Nwaneri is an example that it can work for a player like Wylie, but rare. Rangers, or Arsenal, is best.
